The Department of Arts and Humanities brings together a team of nationally and internationally recognised scholars with a wide range of specialist expertise. It is structured around three constituent areas:
- Art, Design and Museology
- the Humanities
- Music
Within this broad structure it consists of seven main elements:
- Art and Design;
- Museums and Galleries;
- Citizenship;
- History in Education;
- Music;
- Religion in Education;
- Social Science.
It is also home to the research-informed Holocaust Education Development Programme.
The Department offers excellent initial teacher training programmes in all the areas listed above and it provides an impressive range of cutting-edge MA and CPD courses, variously presented in face-to-face, distance learning or mixed mode formats. In addition, the Department of Arts and Humanities offers a first class PhD programme and members of staff are actively involved in an extensive range of innovative, nationally and internationally acclaimed, research and development projects.
