Care worker strategies challenged by modern welfare systems in the UK and Norway

Karen will speak about care workers' experiences with the modern welfare system `cash-for-care' in the UK and Norway and base her talk on findings from a qualitative cross-national study carried out in London and Bergen.

Karen is a sociologist from the University of Bergen and has been working at the department of Sociology for over ten years. She belongs to and coordinates the department's research profile group "Welfare, inequality and life course" with her own main interests focusing on welfare areas such as modernization of social care services, care policy practices, welfare and disability, comparative social policy and consumerism.
