Between 1965 and 1990, the ILEA (Inner London Education Authority) was at the forefront of developments in education for a multicultural, inner-city community.
Many of ILEA's policies and priorities in areas such as gender and race equality were demonstrated in the teaching materials produced by its Learning Resources Branch. The Research and Statistics Branch also published a wide range of reports on educational topics.
The work of the ILEA is now beginning to be examined in its historical context and is of particular interest to the Institute of Education, which has many links with education in London.
The Library holds a full collection of ILEA resources, but they need sorting and cataloguing to make them available to researchers.
