Freedom of Information
Freedom of Information Act
All universities have a statutory duty to comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Since February 2004 this has included the requirement to produce a Publication Scheme.
Institute Publication Scheme
The Institute's Publication Scheme (pdf) follows a model produced for all universities, and approved by the Information Commissioner
The Scheme contains a considerable amount of information about the Institute, in groups and classes of information, and how to locate that information.
Institute website
A substantial amount of information about the Institute can be obtained from the web site. Start at the home page and follow links, or use the search box - upper right of every page. In particular, policies governing major areas of work and committee minutes can be found under 'Overview' and 'Policies & Procedures' in 'About the IOE'.
Institute offices and departments
As far as possible the Institute will try to meet requests for information through its normal processes, which will avoid the need for formal applications under the FOI Act. This will enable information to be provided in most circumstances quickly and without charge.
If you cannot find the information you want on the website, requests for information should be made to the appropriate office or department before making a formal request under the FOI Act.
Making a formal FOI request
If you cannot obtain what you need from the above sources you will need to proceed with making a formal FOI request.
