Our policy
The Institute of Education recognises the importance of good environmental practice in both current day-to-day business and the future development of the Institute. It acknowledges that its activities have an impact on the environment both locally and globally and is committed to minimizing this impact wherever practicable.
All staff, students, visitors, service providers and contractors have a responsibility to contribute towards achieving this goal. As part of the Institute's commitment to minimising the impact its activities have on the environment and in recognition of the need for continual improvement to meet this goal, the Institute of Education has implemented a number of policies and procedures with targets and action plans in the following areas:-

The Institute is committed to integrating sustainable development into its academic and professional work. The Sustainability Network is a staff group dedicated to promoting good practice. The Student Union is also working to promote good environmental practice in its work with students.

These policies and procedures apply to all activities and areas of the Institute, including the Students' Union and Student Residences. To ensure that these policies are kept up to date, all are reviewed annually, normally during the Spring Term.
