  • Summary:
    • I was a primary school teacher for almost 20 years. I completed my PhD at the Institute in 2001, which was about masculinity in the junior school. I currently work 0.5 as a researcher in the National Research and Development Centre for adult literacy and numeracy (NRDC), and 0.5 in the Doctoral School as the Programme leader for the MPhil/PhD. The majority of the research I carry out is qualitative and I have a particular interest in gender, identity, primary school teaching and learning, family literacy and adult learning in English and mathematics in the post-compulsory sector.
  • Teaching:
    • My doctoral school work involves leading the module on conceptualising and designing research, teaching on core courses such collecting and analysing data, and on various courses for EdD students. I also provide tutorial support and supervise MPhil and EdD students.
