The IOE has over 80 years of international experience

International

Here at the IOE we've been working with clients from around the world for over 80 years.  A cosmopolitan outlook and inclusive attitude is at the heart of all our activities and this is why we attract students and staff from over 100 different countries.

This experience and breadth of knowledge is also reflected in the assignments we undertake on behalf of our international clients.  Below are some illustrative examples of consultancy work we've delivered outside of the UK:

Republic of Yemen – Basic Education Development Project

We are working with the Republic of Yemen to support aspects of the development of their school system.  This consultancy, funded by the World Bank, provides tailored leadership development for members of the Modernisation Task Force and members of the senior management of the Ministry of Education.  The forms of development are designed in consultation, have a practical problem solving focus and are locally based.

British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) – Leadership Development

This group of international schools is being supported through our tailored development programmes for middle leaders.

European Commission - progress on reform of higher education in Europe

We are working as part of a team of experts drawn from several European higher education research centres, coordinated by Centre of Higher Education Policy Studies from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Our task is to report to the Commission on how the management and funding of higher education have changed across Europe (broadly defined) over the last ten or so years, and whether these changes can be linked to improvements in the performance of the higher education systems in question. This involves both analysis of existing data on national higher education systems, and collecting new data from national experts to identify the significant changes that have occured in each country over the period. This work relates closely to key European policy goals in relation to the knowledge economy, following from the "Lisbon agenda" of 2000.

Implementing Financing & Governance Reform in Bulgaria

This consultancy assessed the progress of the introduction of delegated budgets and provided guidance on how Bulgaria should proceed with implementing school-based management. Guidance was also provided on potential future improvements to the efficiency and accountability of the Bulgarian education sector and the requirements placed on the ministry of education by the reforms.
