We provide support and advice for the purchase and use of recommended IT hardware and software, and advice on the disposal of unwanted equipment. For hardware recommendations, please see separate documents to the right of this page.

Software purchasing information

We sell copies of the following software titles for £4 (cash only) from the Computer Helpdesk in the Library:

• PASW 18 (SPSS) for Mac OSX 10.5+                                         
• PASW 18 (SPSS) + Nvivo 9 for MS Windows XP/Vista/W7 
• MLwiN for MS Windows XP/Vista/W7                                  

Downloads of Microsoft Products

As part of our Microsoft Campus Agreement, all staff and students are entitled to purchase discounted Microsoft software.  Prices start from £7 (excluding VAT).  An example of some of the Microsoft products which are available are:

• Microsoft Windows 7
• Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows
• Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows
• Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac

Please log a call with the Helpdesk or email computerhelpdesk@ioe.ac.uk for login details to Microsoft's Electronic Academy in order to download your software.  Payment can be made by Credit, Debit card or PayPal on their website.

Disposal of Unwanted Equipment

All redundant IT Equipment should be returned to IT Services on Level 3 of Bedford Way.  We will then arrange for Computer Aid International to collect this.  Please see our policy to the right of this page for more details.
