Science Learning Centre London (SLCL)

Director
Sally Johnson

Science Learning Centre London provides high-quality professional development for science teachers and those supporting science education in schools and colleges. It offers a wide variety of courses for all Key Stages as well as outreach programmes and other events.

The Centre administers bursaries funded by the Department for Education, called Impact Awards, which can be claimed by secondary and Post-16 teachers in state-maintained schools to cover the course fee and contribute towards the cost of supply cover.

The Centre is part of the national network of Science Learning Centres set up and funded by the DfE with the aim of offering every science educator in the country access to high-quality CPD. It is also engaged in various research projects and its staff are available for consultancy work.

The Centre has excellent teaching facilities - two teaching rooms, three laboratories and one ICT suite on site as well as a roof laboratory. Its staff are experienced educators providing a blend of teaching and research expertise alongside high-quality support and administration.

London offers many opportunities to run training off-site and the Centre works in close collaboration with the Science Museum and other partners to make the best use of the wealth of Museums and other places of informal learning in the city.
