London Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (LONCETT)

Head of centre - Lynne Rogers

The London Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (LONCETT) is one of eleven Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training, funded by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service, as part of the national strategy to identify, develop and share good practice and provide models for improving the quality of teacher training and support teacher training providers in the lifelong learning sector. Led by the Institute of Education LONCETT has developed collaborative partnerships with organisations across London.

At the heart of LONCETT are three research projects linked to curriculum development for initial teacher training based in the context of vocational skills teachers in further education and work based learning, teachers and instructors in prison education and teachers and in adult and community learning. Additional projects focus on mentoring and work-based support for beginning teachers, and supporting HR and Staff Development departments to meet the challenges of the 2007 statutory requirements.
