Using other libraries

The Newsam Library is a specialist collection focused on education. It does include some material on other subjects but Institute staff and students may want to use other larger general libraries or specialist collections.

SCONUL Access
SCONUL Access is a cooperative access and borrowing scheme managed by SCONUL (Society of College, National and University Libraries.) Over 170 participating institutions are involved.
>Part-time undergraduates and postgraduates are entitled to borrowing membership from other institutions.
>Full-time undergraduates and postgraduates are entitled to reference membership from other institutions.
>Research students and academic staff are entitled to borrrowing membership from other institutions.

You will need two valid cards for identification: your Institute of Education ID card and a SCONUL Access card, obtainable from the Library Enquiry Desk. Individual institutions set their own conditions for the numbers and types of loans and for any additional documentation required. Advice is available from the Library Enquiry Desk or the SCONUL website.
