    • I am a Senior Lecturer in Education. I have published work on schools, teachers and pupils, including:

      - conceptions of time in society
      - the relationship between social identity and schooling
      - urban schooling
      - academies, federations and extended schools
      - power in education
      - teacher professionalism and professional development
      - education policy
      - teacher vocation and altruism
      - data privacy in schools
      - children and biometrics

      I am the author of the book Teachers Under Siege (2005). I also have research interests in sociolinguistics, technology, education futures and education in the professions. I carry out consultancy work in the area of medical, dental, engineering and legal education.
