  • Summary:
    • I am interested in social and educational inequalities, including inequalities of social class, gender and ethnicity. My published work includes papers on Bourdieu and cultural capital, rational choice theory, private and state schooling, single-sex and co-educational schooling, and education policy.
  • Professional Activities:
    • I am on the editorial boards of the following journals:
      American Educational Research Journal
      International Studies in the Sociology of Education
      Longitudinal and Life course Studies
      Race Ethnicity and Education

      I also referee for many journals, including: American Journal of Sociology; British Educational Research Journal; British Journal of Sociology; Oxford Review of Education; Social Forces; Sociological Review.
