  • Summary:
    • I am interested in participatory planning and cross-sectoral collaboration to increase health equity and educational equity in the context of low and middle income countries. This involves me in teaching, research and consultancy on (i) ways to reduce child undernutrition through addressing social determinants in urban slums (ii) the impact of health on educational access and attainment for children in disadvantaged settings (including remote multigrade schools and high HIV prevalence areas).
  • Teaching:
    • Participatory planning and project management for health promotion in the context of international development.
  • Research Projects:
    • Principal Investigator of the Health urbanisation Project funded by the ESRC-DFID Joint Scheme which aims to reduce child malnutrition in Kenya and Chile through addressing the social determinants of health.
      Principal Investigator of the SOFIE Project funded by the ESRC-DFID Joint Scheme which seeks to strengthening open and flexible learning for increased education access in high HIV areas of Lesotho and Malawi.
      Member of the Consortium for Research on Educational Access, Transitions and Equity (CREATE)
  • Postgraduate Research:
    • I am interested in supervising post-graduate research in education, in health and in social development in low and middle income countries with reference to access, participation, governance and equity.
