- Summary:
- Before joining the Institute of Education as Subject Leader for PGCE Mathematics, Richard taught in London comprehensive schools for 18 years including 11 years as a Head of Mathematics. He then became Course Director for PGCE and GTP Secondary Mathematics at London South Bank University. Richard joined the Institute of Education as Subject Leader for PGCE Secondary Mathematics in September 2009 and teaches on various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Richard's research involves working with in-service and pre-service mathematics teachers on various aspects of classroom practice.

- Richard's interests include all aspects of mathematics education but his current research is focussed on: classroom interactions; creativity and ingenuity in mathematics practice; and the relationship between policy and practice.
