- Summary:
- I am interested in geography education research and in particular curriculum and teacher development. I have an inteerst in related issues such as textbook research, assessment, and citizenship education

- • Enda Dolan: Initial teacher education using a web-based portfolio system (Ireland)

• Archie Deen: active learning in the context of the geography classroom (USA)
- Professional Activities:
- • I am 0.5 Chief Executive of the Geographical Association, the leading subject association for teachers of geography in England, with strong UK and international links (www.geography.org.uk). The GA in 2007-8 turned over £1.2m funded project work, mainly geography curriculum and teacher development.
• I am Trustee of the DEA (www.dea.org.uk)
• I advise national bodies, including DCSF on geography education, in close partnership with Dr Rita Gardner, Director of the Royal Geographical Society.
• I am a fellow of the RSA
• I am on the following editorial Boards:
