  • Summary:
    • As Pro-Director: Professional Education Norbert currently leads Strand 4 of the Institute's Strategy Delivery Programme. Previously Norbert worked for the Deanery inter alia as Acting Dean for Initial and Continuing Professional Development. He also was Chair of Academic Board and has served on the Planning and Resource Committee, Senate and Council.

      Between 2005 and 2010 Norbert was Co-Director of the Centre for Excellence in Work-based Learning for Education Professionals. Through this WLE-work he fostered technology-enhanced approaches to teaching and learning by facilitating innovation and developing new concepts and theoretical thinking.

  • Research Projects:
    • In 2007 he founded the international, interdisciplinary London Mobile Learning Group, which he convenes. The group comprises researchers in the fields of cultural studies, sociology, semiotics, pedagogy and educational technology.

  • Postgraduate Research:
    • Norbert's research and supervision interests include the application of new technologies in teaching and learning, teacher education and development and all aspects of foreign language teaching and learning. He has published widely and supervises numerous research students in these fields.

    • Norbert is joint editor of the Language Learning Journal (Routledge), Associate Editor of the London Review of Education (Routledge), member of the Editorial Board of Teacher Development (Routledge) and Editor in Chief of Reflecting Education (WLE Centre). Norbert has held, and holds numerous External Examinerships.
