  • Postgraduate Research:
    • A major doctoral study of an African settlement in Botswana at SOAS, University of London. The study sought to investigate the enduring social relationships in rural settlements and how these relationships could be sustained at a time of accelerating social change in the country and region. The thesis was entitled: 'Serowe: a distinctive form of African urbanism'. This followed ethnographic research for 'A Primary History of Botswana' – the book adopted the form of traditional stories from each of the major clans with contemporary materials related to the country as a whole.
