  • Summary:
    • I have a background in working on research projects that relate to learners in a variety of fields, notably, vocational education, disaffection, exclusion and diversity. My PhD thesis, a comparative study, was on the role of theory in Initial Teacher Education. Within the area of foreign languages teaching and learning, my current research is in the role of culture and in particular, the use of film and film-making in the Key Stage 3 foreign languages classroom. I have published widely on a number of aspects of foreign language teaching and learning and on teacher education.

    • Education through diversity in Europe (2006-2008) funded by Socrates 6.2 Research Programme involving eight European countries to investigate perceptions of and approaches to diversity in primary and secondary schools.
