  • Summary:
    • My interests encompass debates in:
      (i) Social Theory about knowledge economy/culture/society;
      (ii) Social Philosophy about mind, reason and action; and
      (iii) Cultural-Historical Activity Theory about knowledge, learning and pedagogy.

      I use these interdisciplinary interests to research different aspects of professional, vocational and workplace learning (PVWL).
  • Teaching:
    • Programme Leader for the Master in Lifelong Learning, Module Leader for the module Lifelong Learning: Theories and Perspectives, and I lecture on the following modules – Education and Technology in Clinical Practice; Education for the Professions; and Vocational Learning
  • Research Projects:
    • I am currently researching for LLAKES: (i) new models of apprenticeship in the Creative and Cultural (C&C) sector; (ii) knowledge development in Small and Medium Size Enterprises and its contribution to economic growth; (iii) interprofessional learning in the C&C and Medical sectors; and, (iv) internships in the C&C and Finance sectors.

I co-direct with Professor David Livingstone, Ontario Institute of Educational Studies, the book series 'Education and the Knowledge Economy' for Sense Publications.
