- Higher education management, particularly organisational effectiveness in its various forms. My research has included studies of institutional change in the UK and in eastern Europe; the finance of higher education; the impact of built environment of academic effectiveness; and marketing and branding in higher education.
- Teaching:
- Co-director of the MBA in higher education management. Contributor to aspects of the EdD programme.

- "GOODUEP", a six-country study of the management of university-enterprise partnerships.
Study for the European Commission of reform of higher education management and funding across Europe.
