Doctoral Student Research Fund

Faculties are expected to provide for their doctoral students to apply for a small grant to cover unexpected expenses arising from their research. These discretionary grants are limited to a maximum of £100 and are available for this purpose only and not for the typing and binding of theses. Students who receive a grant to assist with unexpected expenses may not apply for a grant to help with conference attendance in the same academic year. Faculties have their own procedures for making and considering applications for a grant, which must have the support of the student's supervisor. Funds available each year are limited and so it may not be possible for a Faculty to consider a request for assistance if it is received after the sum allocated for the year has been exhausted.
