Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Studentships

The Institute leads a consortium of four University of London colleges in the Bloomsbury area, which has been awarded Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) status by the ESRC. Our partners in the consortium are Birkbeck College, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. 

The Bloomsbury DTC is offering full- and part-time ESRC-funded research studentships starting in October 2012. Studentships are available in the following academic clusters at the Institute of Education:

Education (6 studentships)
Quantitative Methods (5 studentships)
Social Policy (1 studentship)

Fuller information on the clusters is available on the top right-hand corner of this page. One of the pathways of the Social Policy cluster, Evidence for Policy and Practice, is based at the IOE.

Studentships are open to Home/EU students. International students pursuing research in Economics or using Advanced Quantitative Methods can also be considered for studentships.

Students who wish to apply for a studentship must first apply for doctoral study at the Institute by 1 February 2012. Please see details of our MPhil/PhD and research-focussed Master's degrees in the blue boxes on the right-hand side.

A separate ESRC Studentship must also be completed and returned to the Doctoral School by 27 February 2012.
