UCL Union (UCLU) is a central part of student life. In December 2014, UCL merged with the Institute of Education to create a new institution with over 35,000 students, confirming UCL as the biggest higher education institution in London, and the largest postgraduate institution in the UK, with 19,000 postgraduate students and over 11,000 staff. This merger has also led to a merger of the respective students' unions, the IOESU and UCLU. Students from both institutions now enjoy equal access to all of the services offered by the two unions, which for the sake of clarity will all come under the umbrella of UCLU. Services include:
- Facilities such as bars, cafes, shops and a fully equipped gym located conveniently around campus
- Events, ranging from organised trips, tours, and pub quizzes, to music, comedy and much more
- Services including a JobShop, Advice and Welfare, Representation and Campaigning, and Volunteering
- Clubs and Societies - with over 250 to choose from covering sport, culture, faith, arts, performance, media and general interest there is something for everyone.
Seven Sabbatical Officers were elected by students last Spring to lead your Union on a full-time basis this year. They each have their own portfolio of responsibilities and are your key representatives to UCL and beyond. Find out who is leading your union in 2015-16: UCLU Sabbatical Officers
