This module enables beginning teachers to develop their understanding of the place of Modern Foreign Languages in the school curriculum and their knowledge and understanding of aspects of MFL teaching and learning. The module provides the conceptual underpinning of aspects of classroom practice and the relationship between language and culture. Throughout the module beginning teachers are encouraged to reflect critically on their classroom experience and to draw on theoretical perspectives in the development of their thinking about the teaching and learning of MFLs. It further provides an initiation into aspects of MFL teaching and learning that will form the basis of further professional and academic study.
