Faculty of Culture and Pedagogy

    Dean of Faculty
    Professor Chris Husbands

The Faculty of Culture and Pedagogy houses the largest, most diverse and most successful groupings of researchers and academics in Europe with an interest in teaching, learning and the relationships between them.

Across our four departments, our research groupings and our research centres we bring together an exceptional range of expertise and interest in the development of teaching and learning at a time of profound change in educational practices.

Our research work is exceptionally strong, spanning scholars with interests in formal and informal education, in learning through and across subjects, and in the way learning operates at the interface between people and technology.   Our funded research includes work on learning design, cultural practices in teaching learning and assessment, Holocaust Education, Science and Mathematics Education and special educational needs.  What drives all of this is a fascination with, and a commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Alongside this, our teaching programmes are exceptional in range and quality:  a vibrant secondary teacher  programme offered in partnership with some of the most interesting schools in the world, programmes at foundation and undergraduate level, a Masters' programme of exceptional richness, and programmes of postgraduate research at the cutting edge of educational thinking. We hope you will enjoy exploring our web pages, and are sure you will find something to excite and inspire you.
