Post-Graduate Research

All Doctoral activity within the Faculty is overseen by the Faculty Post-Graduate Research Committee, which includes student representation, and is headed by the Faculty Director for Post-Graduate Research, Professor Deborah Youdell.

All administration at Faculty level is co-ordinated by the two research administrators, Neal Carr and Hannah Liebing.

The following Research Methods short courses are being run at the Institute of Education in the Autumn of 2011.

Detailed information and a full list of courses in 2011 - 2012, as well as booking information can be obtained by downloading the Short Courses Guide (pdf).  Courses run from 09.30 to 17.00 each day and are run at the main Institute of Education building at 20 Bedford Way.   Possible funding for the above courses may be available from the Research Methods NCRM Training Bursaries.


Doctoral Research

CLS welcomes enquiries from individuals who would like to base their doctoral research on analysis of data from the cohort studies.  Further information about potential supervisors within CLS, current research students and recently completed PhDs is available on the CLS website: www.cls.ioe.ac.uk/phd.


Masters Degree

CLS is also responsible for co-ordinating the MSc in Policy Analysis and Evaluation.  This is an innovative degree which provides a broad-based training in social science research methods, with an emphasis on quantitative methods.  Classes are mostly held in two day blocks, during normal working hours.  See our Prospectus for 2010-2011 (pdf).   All the modules can also be taken as short courses, either for credit or as personal development.  Classes are mostly held in two day blocks, in normal working hours.
