Centre for Post-14 Research and Innovation

The Centre for Post-14 Research and Innovation was formed in 2007, building on the work of the Post-14 Regional Network. The Centre aims to support 'the creation of an inclusive and high-performing post-14 education and training system in England based on independent research and dialogue between practitioner, policy and researcher communities'.

Members of the research team have been working with the Learning and Skills Council, local authorities and awarding bodies to focus on:

  • Curriculum and qualifications reform
  • 14-19 partnerships and institutional collaboration
  • Vocational pedagogy
  • Local area quality assurance systems
  • 14-19 learner progression.

The Centre delivers consultancy, conferences/seminars, an Open Lecture Series and a new CPD programme for colleges, schools and independent training provider.  It also supports the Post-14 Regional Network for practitioners. Based at the Institute of Education, the Centre works closely with colleagues from the London Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (LONCETT), the London Strategic Unit (LSU), the London Centre for Leadership in Learning (LCLL) and the London Education Research Unit (LERU) to meet the needs of professionals in the Capital and the South East.
