The Thomas Coram Research Unit is a leading centre for research into the health and well-being of children and young people both within and outside their families, with over 30 years experience of carrying out consultancy and research projects for international, national, regional and local bodies.

If you are looking for research, advice or knowledge transfer in health, education or social care, our staff are ready to offer you their expertise and skills.

Our consultancies range from one day initiatives such as training or staff development, to longer term research and evaluation projects. We work directly with organisations such as health and local authorities or international institutions, and offer advice to others carrying out research and evaluation.  Our past partners include government departments, local authorities, health trusts and voluntary organisations.

Examples of previous consultancy work

• Scoping exercise to inform the provision of services for teenage parents in the London Borough of Islington. Work mapped current support services, identified gaps in provision and helped inform the strategic development of services for young parents in Islington.
• Evaluations of pilot projects, for example of social workers based in children's centres and schools
• Continuing professional development for Early Years Professionals.
