Media Literacy In Education

This module focuses on theories of media literacy, and the practices of media education which aim to develop the critical and creative capacity of young people. Participants following the module will learn from recent research and practice in this field, looking at how young people engage culturally with media texts such as TV drama, films and computer games, how they conceptualise them, and how they can make their own using new digital authoring technologies which are introduced during the module. The module is particularly addressed to trainee English teachers, and provides opportunities to apply what they have learnt during teaching practice placements.
