Learning in Small Groups

This two-day workshop is offered as an optional module of the Institute's Teaching and Learning in Higher and Professional Education Programme. It aims to provide course members with an opportunity to examine, explore and integrate a range of practical and theoretical issues of small group teaching, in a workshop setting. The module raises new opportunities for the provision of excellence in teaching and learning, including the development of creative thinking, teamwork, problem solving, interpersonal skills. The workshop will include: different techniques of interaction, organisation, leadership; alternative structures such as role-play, games, peer learning/ teaching; digitally recorded sessions and feedback; how to employ small group techniques in larger classes; issues of student learning; issues of group dynamics.
