Psychology Of Education MA/MSc

We will provide you with:

  • an introduction to key theoretical issues in the psychology of education
  • the skills to critically analyse psychological theory and research
  • the opportunity to explore the contribution of psychological theory and research to educational issues and practice
  • an understanding of research processes and the ability to undertake research in psychology of education.


Features
This course offers you the opportunity to qualify for the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) the prerequisite for training for a career as a practising psychologist. The MA/MSc forms the second part of our route to GBR for those without a suitable honors degree.

Who is this programme for?
Teachers and professionals working in related fields and people interested in applications of psychology to education.

Attendance
Full-time students will attend up to four three-hour daytime or evening sessions of three hours per week.
Part-time students will attend the following:
  • Year 1 - up to three evening sessions of three hours per week
  • Year 2 - one evening session of three hours per week, plus dissertation support and supervision sessions.
    Attendance may vary based on choice of modules.

    How are you assessed?
    By a two-hour unseen examination, coursework (2,500- or 5,000-word assignments) and a dissertation (20,000 words) or report (10,000 words).

    Entry Requirements
    You should have a good honours degree in psychology or approved overseas equivalent. If you have a good honours degree or equivalent in a non-psychology subject, you will need to successfully complete the Institute's Graduate Certificate in Psychology. If your qualification is not equivalent to a good honours degree, other arrangements will apply. Please contact us for further details.
