Further Education

FE and Lifelong Learning Sector

The Department of Continuing and Professional Education will be offering courses intended to help professionals in the FE and Lifelong Learning Sector reflect on their practice, develop new skills and familiarize themselves with recent research in the field. Courses offered so far this year have covered a wide range of themes including, approaches to personalised learning, the education of older learners, development of mentoring/coaching skills, prison education and the use of ICT in learning.

This CPD offer can count towards the annual 30 hours of CPD required to maintain membership of the Institute of Learning and those enrolling will receive certificates of attendance.

The Department of Continuing and Professional Education would also be happy to hear from colleges and departments interested in a customised CPD programme for their staff during 2011/12. The tutors leading these courses are expert teacher educators (the Post-Compulsory PGCE was awarded a Grade 1 in a recent Ofsted inspection) and are nationally recognised researchers in the area of post-14 education and lifelong learning.
