Doctor in Education (International Dual Award) EdD

The EdD (International) degree programme also forms part of a dual award being offered by the Institute in partnership with the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NIE). Students applying for the dual award must meet the entry requirements and be accepted by both institutions. If you are accepted for the dual award programme you will be able to undertake the taught components and the IFS report through one of the partner institutions and then transfer to the other institution for support in the completion of your thesis. The partner institution will provide you with a principal supervisor and will be responsible for the supervision, monitoring and examination of the thesis according to their practices and regulations. Dual award students will have full access to the facilities and resources of the partner institution. Participants have a choice of selecting either institution as their home institution. Once this decision is made, students will attend the four core courses and undertake the institution-focused study at the home institution before completing their thesis at the other (dual institution).

Participants with Institute of Education, University of London, as the Home Institution

Participants who select the Institute as the home institution will follow the same pattern of taught courses as the EdD (International) Programme participants. At the thesis stage they will be required to attend the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University at least four to six times (each visit for approximately one week) over a two year period.

As for all doctoral programmes, your progress will be reviewed on an annual basis, and through the formal reviews that take place in the EdD (International) programme at transition from the taught programme to the IFS and from the IFS to thesis. On successful completion of all the requirements of the dual EdD programme, you will be eligible for the award of a Doctor in Education degree from both partner institutions.
