When do PGCE programmes start?
Courses start in September of each year. There is no January entry for PGCE Primary or Secondary courses. Term dates are available here and are provisional.How can I track the progress of my application?
Primary and Secondary PGCE applications can be tracked online via the GTTR website. Applicants to the Post-Compulsory PGCE, Part-time Art and Design and Music courses should contact Recruitment and Admissions. directly.What if my application is unsuccessful?
If your application is rejected at the initial stages of assessment, you will be notified by the GTTR . If your application is unsuccessful after you have attended an interview you will be notified by the GTTR and by the Institute.The GTTR then pass your application on to your next choice.
How do I apply?
Applicants to Primary and Secondary PGCE course should apply via the GTTR. Applicants for Post-Compulsory, part-time music and Art and Design courses should apply via UKPASSWhen should I apply for my course?
You should apply as early as possible, from the October preceding the year in which you hope to start, particularly for Primary and Secondary PGCE courses. There is no official closing date but we are often unable to consider candidates who apply late in the cycle.We do not consider candidates whose application arrives after the course has closed, regardless of the strength of their application.
Is there a charge for applying?
Applicants who wish to apply for Secondary or Primary PGCE courses will be required to pay a fee directly to the GTTR when they register. This charge is £19 for 2012 entry.How long does the application process take?
If you have provided us with all the required information at the time of application, it should take us 20 working days to reach an initial decision on your application. If you are successful at this stage we will write and invite you to interview. If your qualifications are not from the UK, it is advised that you provide details of these (e.g. transcripts)to at the time of application. You are also advised to check that you have the appropriate entry requirements prior to application. In particular, students who were educated outside the UK should consult Naric.If you do not provide detailed information at the time of application (e.g, suitable reference, high school qualifications, details of your school experience). It will take longer to assess your application and may mean we are unable to offer you an interview.
